Bridging the Gap of Shia/Sunni for Unity through Discussion

Back

A question and answer session given by Brother Hassanain Rajabali at Stony Brook University (in USA), questions asked are regarding Shia/Sunni Unity, and some of the Shia Practices

It is important to note that Brother Hassanain
has stressed on the importance of an academic discussion, where people are open minded, as we all have our own opinions, and if someone is unaware, then we should araise their awareness through pleasant discussion, anyone who is keen on bickering (arguing pointlessly) should be ignored.

A call for Shia/Sunni dialogue, why and how:

On July 6, 1959, Mahmoud Chaltout, rector of the Mosque al-Azhar in Cairo - a reference to modern Sunni Islam - issued a fatwa recognizing the historical jafarisme (Ja'fari) or al-Chia al-al Imamiyya - Ithna 'Achariyya (ie the twelfth Imam of Shiites) as a madhhab, a Muslim school of law that is religiously correct to follow in worship, as may be other Sunni schools of thought

I myself was born in a mixed sunni-shia family but after doing research I became Shia.

"Shia is the right faith because Shias have logic to all the actions they do".
Sunnis just do things without any reasoning and when you ask a Sunni mullah question, he tells you asking why is haram (prohibited).

The 2nd factor that attracted me towards Shia faith was that Shias always respect others (Christians, Hindus, Jews, and others).Shias also respect your disagreement.

Sunnis are extremist.

It was Umar who forbade Muttah (temporary marriage) and not the holy prophet (pbuh).U r all the followers of Umar.

We read in Sahih Muslim, Bab ul Nikah, book 008, number 3249:

Jabir bin Abdullah reported: 'We contracted temporary marriage giving a handful of flour as dower, during the life time of Allah's messenger (P) and during the lifetime of Abu Bakr until Umar forbade it and the case of "Amr Bin Harith".

Moreover u sunnis have similiar thing like Muttah, which is called Misyar.

U said:"even Al kafi contains fabricated hadiths."

Yes u r right, Al Kafi is not regarded as 100%authentic by us and also in ur sihah sittah the collections of Thimidhi, Abu Dauud, Al Nisai and Ibn Maja are not seen as 100% Sahih.

Regarding Bukhari and Muslim they are regarded by you 100% without as sahih any proofs, although they have even more fabricated Ahadith than Al Kafi.

If u want to discuss with islamic manner regarding the authencity of Bukhari and Muslim, u r most welcomed.
