Russian SU-30MK fighter aircraft

Back

Well, hell...look at Russia's cool toy.

The fighter can stall from high speed, stopping in less than a second. Then it demonstrates an ability to descend tail first without causing a compressor stall. It can also recover from a flat spin in less
than a minute.

As a retired USAF jet engine mechanic, watching this aircraft perform in flight like this is quite scary. It is simply NOT supposed to be able to do these things without stalling out and going into the ground. That front stablizing aileron is simply awesome to say the least. My hat's off to the designers and engineers for accomplishing this feat. I've watched the F-22fly and hopefully it can give this thing a run for it's money! I'd sure hate to be in a dog fight with either one of them.

I at same boat with you, I think those maneuver is impressive and it will give the pilot more chance to look on target or give pilot more survival rate if something bad happen (weather condition or something like that)

Where do you think the Russians got all thier tech from ?
pramboy74 (September 13, 2008 at 11:24 am)
german aircraft design was always ahead of anything the allies had to offer. What killed the germans was numbers against and bombing of their homeland. Look at the sabre and mig-15, both had similar lines why is this? Both the americans and the russians had captured german designers and gathered all their info.

Germans developed the first Jet engines and got them flying, you need to read up on your history.

Hiya brendonnz, with respect mate I think it is you who needs to "read up" a little. Yes, you are correct in saying that the Germans had the first true jet aircraft up and running (the Heinkel 178 or 6? Have to check up). However, the theory and patent for the first true TURBO JET ENGINE was developed by Frank Whittle and his team, work beginning around 1928 and working by the second quarter of 1939.The Air Ministry thought the idea unreliable, otherwise Britain would have had a jet plane sooner.

Well,Hans von Ohain was developing the German engine independently, Von Ohains basic design of a through-put airflow throught the turbine is what the modern jet-engines are based on, Frank Whittles design was the fuel-airmix passing through tubes on the outerside of the central turbine and then being ignited.Naturally we live in a world with a lot of misinformation biased naturally towards the Western point of view.
