THANK YOU for all HELPFUL ratings and critiques...
ARIA from the Sonata I in D (from "L´Echo du Danube" op. 9)

The viola da gamba player and composer J. Schenck gave us a great and splendid treasure of baroque music, born in the Netherlands but spent a long periode in Germany. We tried some movements from his beautyful sonata with cello and guitar in the style of a broken consort, where the guitar has to realize 3-4 independent voices instead of a more "conventional" continuo setting.
The recording was done without playback or electronic effects. The cello was a very light one from the 19.th century (anonymus), and the steel strings were partially wounded with some soft cotton stripes close to the bridge to darken slightly the sound (and there was also a soft cotton diaper between the top and the stringholder). this "needlework" also worked nice in live concerts ;-)).

Dorothea Andreae - Cello
Siegfried Andreae - Guitar and Continuo setting.
For many other baroque sonatas with individual continuo settings, we kindly invite to visit the the website www.duocontinuo.de - thank you for listening -
