SR-71 Blackbird
BackDeveloped for the USAF as reconnaissance aircraft more than 40 years ago, SR-71s are still the world's fastest and highest-flying production aircraft. The aircraft can fly more than 2200 mph (Mach 3+ or more than three times the speed of sound) and at altitudes of over 85,000 feet. As research platforms, the aircraft can cruise at Mach 3 for more than one hour. The music is composed by Vangelis and is called 'Rachel's Song'.

some people thonk that the sr-71 can fly at unimaginable speeds. the tiles that made the aircraft are spaced out so much because flying at such speeds the tiles actually tighten due to the heat and pressure. the plane probably turns red at the max speed

Jadavontae....On a N.A.S.A. site I found this weird graph depicting times for various items to travel around the Equator or 24,901.55 miles....SR-71=10.2 hrs.....30/06bullet=13.5 HRS.....AR-47bullet=15.2HRS.....Tomahank Cruise Missile=45.3HRS.....Space Shuttle+1.3 HRS

E8F9G0 I agree 100% that the AF should kept a few SR-71 Blackbirds in flightstorage , if our reconn.sats where blinded by EMF's , SR-71 could be a backup, after nasa destroyed all the Blackbird parts we can forget the YF or SR birds flying again, one question for nasa, what happened to all the Apollo Program stuff?? wheres the boosters and equipment?? destroyed ,like the Blackbirds??the finest example of govn't WASTE &Bush wants back to the Moon by 2010,so wheres the rockets to get us there?
paranoia4132 (September 26, 2008 at 6:31 pm)
Probably could if it maintained its maximum speed but it wouldn't have enough fuel for a circumnavigation.
