(In Russian). Russian Submarine Delta IV Project 667 "Del'Fin". PLARB - Nuclear Powered Ballistic Missile Submarine. Armament : 16/SS-N-23/ RSM-54 Skif ballistic missiles & 4/533 bow TT (12 torpedoes and/ or SS-N-15 Starfish/82-P missiles). They are called "Begemots" (Hippopotamus) by the Russians.

the delta 4 and typhoon were actually put into service at around the same time because the russians wanted to have another sub class in case there next gen typhoon didnt perform as expected. the delta 4 is not as technically advanced nor does it have the firepower of the typhoon but it is supposedly quieter that the typhoon class according to russian tv shows ive watched

Does anybody know what is the operational status of the seven Delta IV submarines that were built. Are all of them in service. This are the most capable submarines in the russian navy right now, Typhoon is being retired and the Borei class SSBN's aren't ready yet.

very quiet and capable sub. its like the russians equivelent of the ohio class along with there typhoons

Typhoon is the next generation class sub.
