Interesting fact. When the Redhawk was launched it was the only chopper capable of doing a "true" loop (Like you see fixed wing aircraft do). It might still be true today, but I've been out of touch with these things.

Saw the Rooivalk display at the Virginia Airshow this year, it is amazing for a home grown product! Especially considering the budget the chopper was built with!

I'm a Safa & stoked that SA has made such an awesome machine. The only weapons systems AFAIK that have made the US think twice are the G5 155 mm howitzer! AFAIK the Iraqi's were armed with the G5's and the US almost got caught out by their range and accuracy. G5 is possibly one of the best cannon made, its designer was assassinated b4 SA was democratised.

Yep G5 and G6(Mobile variant) can hit a 1m square over 60km away. Don't know if the calculations are fully automated these days, but in the old days, the earth's rotation during flight time of the projectile was taken into account.

Nice machine developed becase the amerians embargoed us. Sadly it came too late to really kick ass but would have been great to take down a Mi-24/Mi-8 hip the Russians used in Angola, Instead we had to do this on foot..If you put a RSA or Isreali Pilot in this and Yank in a Apache would not stand a chance..The Apache and F15 without a man with balls and brains mean little. I quite like how sucessfull the Israelis are with the Apache and and F 15's they upgraded with their own technology.

why so dependent on technology ? in the end its about the pilot, the training not the technology a smart pilot can beat a idiot, same as a smart person with a pistol can kill a retard with a tank
