I know, the movie does an awesome job of presenting Mozart's beautiful music in the best contexts. It's hard not to love classical music, and music in general after watching that movie!

Blast, I still can't reply to my own comments :( Anyway, this rendition of the Requiem opening is total crap, as most of them are. Find the version performed by the Torino Orchestra and "Coro della Rai", directed by Sergiu Celibidache on May 3'd 1968.

Try not to believe all the fuzz that has been written about Mozart's life and death. He was not poor, hungry, cold, ignored or disrespected. Health problems were common back then, and Mozart had many times been very close to dying. And his burial method might not have angered his spirit as much as it did yours. He brought music to common folk, with public concerts and cheap ticket operas. Rotting alone in a ooze-filled stone grave did not fit his character. As for his hardships...

Mozart, like all of us, is a man of his era. Don't try to understand him because you can't. Be thankful for all his pain and troubles, because he is the sum of all of those. How would his music sound if he had been a fat, content and happy man? And he did compose the Requiem for his own death. Listening to it, it's like watching him die. Would it still be the same if he had lived longer? It's a symbol for him, cut short, but continued by others. What more can a human ask for?

Mozart is the rarest divine human being who added so much beautiful and immortal things to this crooked world.Too bad he had to be born in country like Austria where he was treated as a piece of trash and tossed into an unknown hole without dignity, now Austria is proud that he is from Austria!Man you dont even know whereabouts of his grave and didnt honor the poor guy during his lifetime. What a hypocrisy!I wish he was born in Germany where artists are treated with respect and dignity!!

He was treated well.
It wasnt Austrias fult thete the empire was attacked by Prussia during thete time!
And he was prety rich for those times.
He mostly was on tour over Europe and he didnt make so much money.
And he is beried behind the wall becouse his cofen was mestacen and he was bared side by side to a rober or a homles guy.
