Red White Blue (song)

Back

Part three of an American trilogy. An original song by Peri Urban.

You don't like it when I look in your head
You see red, but I see dead men
Don't bother getting out of your bed
Until you've got those history books all read
Did you see what they said
About the black and the red?

C'mon, Buddy are you up for the fight?
You look white, like the moon at night
And the Man up there, he's got no air
And he don't know the dark from the light
We gotta hold on tight
To know this love is right

You say I can't write a song about you, 'cos you're blue
And you don't want me to
And it's too late, I let the dog out the gate
Because I thought you wanted me to
And maybe I know you
Better than you think I do

And it's a harder path we follow
And it's a tough road for us tomorrow
Because the burden of the dream
Is to hear some mother scream
And it never matters why
Her children had to die
The bullets that took them away
They were made in the USA
With love from the USA

THUMBS UP FROM AN AMERICAN

I have to agree. A "protest" song condemning the USA is almost redundant after forty years of beating that dead horse...

Nevertheless, to each their own (I don't loose any sleep over it).

Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

Good point, but it's a little harder to identify them. Death kinda removes the room for doubt.

Well, I'm not so sure they're that much harder to identify. Go to London, Paris, Rome, Bosnia, and you're sure to find some. Not to mention Berlin and Tokyo. I'm not trying to whitewash history, only to point out that the human species' record is filled with nations that have used power in the service of far less noble dreams than ours. Have you seen the jihadi videos on YouTube? Do you understand what they're aiming at?

Uh, I'm confused (happens easily). Everyone has a right to expect that the dream will produce good things. That's a given. But it's when things go bad that I feel the need to sing. Don't ask me why! Must be a genetic "canary down a coal mine" thing. Does that make ANY sense?
