I had never seen this before. Thank you very much for sharing. It has a strong message. Even in 1939 people saw we were headed toward our own distruction...WHEN will we wake up...or is it to late?

I was so glad to find this cartoon. Thanks for posting it! I watched it the first time when I was 5 (I'm 47) and I have always loved the message. It was a brave cartoon for the time it was made.

No. The rights are held I believe by MGM/United Artists/Turner Studios. And even if the film is out of copyright, the arrangement for the music may still be in copyright. The copyright on the music was how they put a stop to all those TV stations showing "It's a Wonderful Life" at Christmas time.

The cartoon was remade in the late 50s or early 60s with a more up to date story line. The chances of another remake along the lines of your suggestion is very unlikely, unless it's remade by a middle eastern country that doesn't care for Western copyright laws. The rightss are held I believe by MGM/UA/Turner and they're not likely to remake or authorize someone else to remake the toon.
