Manowar is classic heavy metal. To the extent that they are power metal, the term is given to them based off of what original power metal from the 80's used to be called. Original power metal IS classic metal...Dio, Savatage, even Priest were once called PM. Iced Earth, Blind Guardian, Hammerfall, Stratovarious...those types of bands are not to be mixed up with Manowar. Manowar is way more macho and heavy than those bands. Oh and they are way more heavy than Maiden for that matter.

Dude, that's not classic heavy metal. That's called 'Power metal', and, as a matter of opinion, I like Iced Earth way better. Dante's Inferno 15 minute epic <3

I meant power, as that's clearly what they are, got it mixed up with prog.

Classic metal as I said is this song right here. This is classic heavy metal. Does this sound like manowar? Not a chance.

Manowar is power metal. That's about it. Iced Earth is a better choice in that genre anyway.

Dude, I don't care what you say, Manowar is pure classic heavy metal. Why you'd choose to call them prog metal blows my mind. Ask anyone who knows anything about metal and they'll tell you that Manowar isn't prog.

Yeah power/prog, this song here is 'pure classic heavy metal', and it sure as hell doesn't sound like Manowar.
