Thw JLTV is replacing the Humvee in 2011. The 160000 HUmvees are going to be taken out of commission and by 2011 50000-60000 JLTVs will be deployed. The JLTV is more advanced it technology. It is also more fuel efficient. The main reason the came out with the JLTV was because the war in iraq. The JLTV is better off-road because it has better suspension and can be raised and lowered depending on the situation. It also has better armor and can take an ied better than a humvee. THERE!

It looks way too heavy, It must be a least 35,000 lbs!! The JLTV is supposed to replace the hummer. It looks like it has very little off road capability

GM doesn't make the Humvee, AM General does [Old Jeeps, Deuces, etc]. GM Licensed the Hummer name from AM General for the H2/H3 civilian suv's.

I bet this thing has a low fuel economy.

Good, but the hull is too long, and waste of weight when you only need 3 or 4 for security operations, and there is open dead space in the back not in use. That's why the MRAP is too heavy for Marines. Build a 4 seat, 4 door version and make the hull compact to get rid of any dead weight. Other JLTVs and MRAPs have too much shapes and curves. This makes the manfacturing cost go up. Simple designs are better in cost performance, and easier to build.
