Kristi is not only the best figure skater ever, she even brought down the house with her sensational dancing along with her dancing partner, Mark Ballas. It put me to tears. Pure joy is what Kristi is about and it makes her even more beautiful than ever. To the fans of Kristi, please watch her at Dancing with the Stars: I promise that it will blow you away.

Couldn't agree with you more! IMO, Kristi's amateur pairs & singles career was NEVER given the credit it deserved...at the time, Kristi & Rudy were doing 3F & 3T in their unique & innovative long programs and Kristi consistently completed the 3L-3T combo to contend with the BEST EVER LADIES JUMPERS: Midori, Tonya & Surya! Her ability to combine both artistry & technical content in her skating truly made her SPECIAL and one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE SKATERS...well actually, my FAVORITE of ALL!

Kristi won because between the short & long form totals, she skated best. I enjoyed Midori Ito as well that year but she fell on her butt which I take as a graver mistake than Kristi's hands down landing. Harding fell too. Kerrigan was shaky. Kristi had the elegance &, yes, consistency for this particular competition to win. Seriously, if Ito had not fallen she'd have won (especially for landing the first female triple axle in an Olympic routine).

You have to remember that some jumps count more than others. A triple loop is not as difficult as the triple flip and the two lutzes that she did. (Though I personally found the flip easier than the loop jump.) Also, the other girls struggled with their routines.

I can't believe this won gold. And people criticized Tara Lipinski and Sarah Hughes winning their flawless Olympic Figure Skating LP.

Kristi is the greatest female skater in history. Tara isnt even in the top 20 and Sarah isnt even in the top 50. A slightly flawed Kristi would destroy a flawless Tara or Sarah.

Kristi had better jumping technique, spins, spirals, speed, edges, ice coverage, carriage, and artistry than Sarah and Tara combined.

I agree. Tara's jumps have bad entries (due in part to her roller skating background). Kristi has the complete package; artistry & the triple-triple combo. Even the 2006 Olympic Gold medalist didn't have a triple - triple combo. And Kristi's moves in between jumps are all connected, speedy and appropriate to the music.
