Actually, not everyone can get flood insurance. Sometimes they won't insure people in some areas. Also, LadyBarbossa is right, tough to make a living and then pay for insurance that you may never need. Also, it's like a 18 year old taking out a life insurance policy. Chances are he won't need it until he's in his 70's. We don't get many 1 in 500+ year floods.

this was no pussy flood. Scarey as hell. And Lord knows if you'd have a place left, or livelihood, etc.
it was very scarey.
Get your arse over here and help out instead of calling it a pussy flood! It'll take years for this city to recover!

yeah really. These people are pissing me off. saying the flood is "pussy" and people in iowa are "ignorant fucks" These people should get their ass' down here and see what it WAS. Now its probably about a hundredth of the way done cleaning up. People should just shut up.
pilif12p1 (August 10, 2008 at 3:47 am)
yeah that is what i thought. Businesses are probably at least $2000 a month. Floods are pretty rare, espically ones like this. People need to think about what they say before they say it

Almost 1300 Houses got hit hard, Big businesses are having to relocate. Some are not reopening again. The federal and city court house are getting torn down. If you think thats not bad enough drink some of our flood water. Its not JUST river water, its full of raw sewage. Now think about ALL the meen comments you have said.

you know what! the flood is not a joke. you have to be in iowa to see how bad it was! Almost half of CR was totally flooded and history is gone. I wish you would just get hit by a tornado if you think this is funny. So do me a favor, fill your house with water, then put a big spinner in it, then burn everything in it. Thats pretty much what the flood did to us. Just come to CR and look at all the houses that have a purple placard on it. ALL of those houses are getting torn down, almost 500-600.
