A Second Life on Second Life

Back

In real life Alice Krueger has severe multiple sclerosis and is unable to walk without the use of crutches. She rarely leaves her home except for trips to see her doctor. In the virtual world of Second Life she leads a radically different existence. Here, she is the avatar Gentle Heron, the co-founder of the Heron Sanctuary - a self-described "support community" for others facing similar situations. In this clip she takes us on a eye-opening tour of her world.

I hope people with all disabilities and for that matter, any people who are distanced from their relevant communities, have an opportunity to discover what this medium can do for them.

Excellent video Alice! You are one of the special people in Second Life. Thank you again for your tour of HeathInfo Island for our Kirkwood Community College group. Since I was a total newbie with the RL camera and didn't have the sound turned for our video taping of the tour, I'm so glad I found this YouTube video! Now I have something to share with new members and those curious about our group. BRAVO!

I have mixed emotions ..but I am not in a plce to live in your shoes and look for these chances to as you say ride a horse etc... I think in order for me to be a true helper I need to gain some kind of perspective to individual wants and needs, not generic assumed wants and needs :)

This is a delightful video describing the development of some greatly needed resources in Second Life. How beautifully done!
