General Dynamics F-111 in Irak
BackThe General Dynamics F-111 is a medium-range strategic bomber, reconnaissance, and tactical strike aircraft designed in the 1960s. The United States Air Force (USAF) variants were officially named Aardvark, their longtime nickname, at their ceremony of retirement from service in 1996. The only remaining operator of the F-111 is the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), and in Australian service the F-111 is known as the Pig.

Well the first thing I noticed was the "UH" and "LN" on the tails. American bases in England. Upper Heyford and Lakenheath. Then I saw then huge American flag in the hanger and wondered if you really watched the video. No to mention I've seen plenty of English language shows about Russian military aircraft.

I'll admit i didn't watch the whole video, I got to the 30 second mark and then stopped watching it because I couldn't understand it. I wanted to watch this video to learn some more about the F-111, not just to look at moving pictures of it with forien dialogue. If I wanted a picture of it I would have gone to google instead.

the f111 is around 50years old,and still one of the best bombers in the world, would still be used 4 years 2 come its just maintaining them..parts are getting 2 hard 2 come by,4 sheer power, speed and bombing capability there right up there!

you should know that these and the f/a-18 are getting retired very soon.
51Sarge51 (May 19, 2008 at 3:58 pm)
yeah i know, the F-111 is being replaced by the F/A-18 Super Hornet and the F/A-18 Hornet is being replaced by the F-35. I want F-22 =(
tiBbLeX (May 19, 2008 at 4:01 pm)
well no one still knows how the F-35 is... so for all we know it could be as good as the F-22
Keep in mind the F-35 is a multi-role aircraft and the F-22 is only a fighter

yeah i guess, the F-22 is a little older too...time will tell though, I'm happy with what ever we get as long as it is good for the country

Not any more. They reallocated the Raptor with an F/A abbreviation as a result of it being air to ground enabled, however, the USAF hierarchy changed it back cos it was easier. It has a magnificent air to ground capability now. Particularly with the stealthy wing pylon ordinance tanks.
