RAAF General Dynamics F-111C
BackThe General Dynamics F-111 is a medium-range strategic bomber, reconnaissance, and tactical strike aircraft designed in the 1960s. The United States Air Force (USAF) variants were officially named "Aardvark", their longtime nickname, at their ceremony of retirement from service in 1996. The only remaining operator of the F-111 is the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), and in Australian service the F-111 is known as the "Pig."

Awesome AC. Saw them (USAFE) as kid flying extreme low level in the West Coast Scotland. They rocked and scared the shit out of the tourists. Maybe old, but rocks as a bomber.

It was good in its day, but not now. It can't really defend itself, and the F/A-18 would need extensive tanker support to provide fighter escort. Even the slated F-111 replacement, the Superhornet, aint good enough. Australia should have gotten on the bandwagon with Singapore and South Korea, and ordered the Strike Eagle instead. It has better range and payload than the Superhornet.

Yea but while the F-15E is better than the F/A-18F, the F/A-18F is cheaper, and it's not being planned as a permanent aircraft, instead it's being used as a 'Bridgeing' aircraft untill (if all goes to plan) the F-35A arrives

the F-111 is still a viable aircraft, its a much more effective strike aircraft than any F/A 18's...

No problem- some people on YouTube like to provoke anger and I did the same thing. Does anyone know if Iraqi helicopter pilots under Hussein wore gold colored helmets? Some pics show gold helicopters. I saw a gold helmet on a soldier. But would appreciate a pic or the word of a reliable person.
