Firing 1874 Gatling Gun

This is a demonstration firing of a 1874 Gatling Gun. It is a .45 caliber "Camel Gun" with the shorter 14 in barrels. Seen at Fort Sisseton, SD . This beautiful shiny brass weapon weighed in at 300lbs with its tripod.

the big problem with mny of the early versions of these guns was that they jammed easily because they lacked a cooling system.

Yes also the ammunition sometimes wasn't truly replicated/identical (dimensions of cartridges etc).
You can imagine the effect of one of these cranked/ reloaded fast with one guy just aiming it against Zulu's etc!.
Over 500 rp/minute was regularly recorded when our army tested them, made an motor spun one, did 1200+ that's 20 rounds a second, vulcan/minigun anyone
