will it work in the sand? how about water?

It can do VTOL, it's just that they won't use it, just like with the harrier.
It's just more efficient to do STOLV

no no no no and no. only if it has very little fuel. but they rn't even going to use it any way thats y its called STOVL. if u post a vid please know about the aircraft

LOL U just said it yourself: only if it has very little fuel, so just like I said it CAN do it it's just not efficient so they wont.

ya if u want to take off and climb about 200ft then have to come back down the F-35 is not a light fighter.
Yoram777NL (July 3, 2008 at 6:33 am)
Ur exaggerating now, u could take of VTOL then refuel in air then do the mission, just saying theoretically... (And it's not a light fighter, but for a large part that's because it's designed to carry so much fuel internally, and it's trust to weight ratio isn't bad)

no teh f-35 is pretty heavy as it is and with weapons and fuel... its not going very far
