Hey Chris, AWESOME video. I'm glad someone has the skill to show the PROCESS of designing a logo from scratch AND can actually talk through the process. My clients love my work, but think I just pull my ideas out of the air. "Um, that one logo took me a week and 30 sample logo to get it correct." Thanks man! Keep up the good work!

Your exactly right, logos take time, effort, input, creativity, etc... That's why it hacks me that every 18 year old with a copy of photoshop starts his own logo design business and floods the market with sub-par work.

Check out my logo reel off my channel. I'm adding more weekly.

Logos take WEEKS sometimes MONTHS to produce. They need to last years (maybe centuries if the business is really successful)

Taking the time to understand the audience is imperative, and finding a way to stand out to them is crucial. This entails writing a "creative brief".

Most logos start with many more than one draft, when I start a branding project, we start with at least 10 - maybe even upto 30 designs if I feel extra creative.

as for this movie itself it's not very good and the logo is not very good either. furthermore the whole thing could have been simplified by just using a vector to raster program which would have saved a hell of a lot of work.

You can't use freeware programs to do a professional work. There's a reason for their high cost. It's like going on the highway with a bycicle or with a ferrari...

that's a big load of shit. it does not matter what program is used as long as the end result is of good quality and the program saves to an industry standard format. i could easily make a payware program for a million dollars, or use pirated photoshop, or use the gimp that comes free with linux, or a million other programs. it's the designer not the software. jeezus.

It's ashamed this is the highest rated vid for logo design on youtube, logo design should really be left to the pros, like me! Starting with sketches is great, but it goes much further than this, I'll be posting vids on my page on the logo process soon, right now I have one there of some of my favorite logos I've designed, check it out!
