Creation Astronomy Propaganda Debunked 02

Back

In this episode, we'll look at a couple of bogus attempts to undermine science related to Lunar and Solar astrophysics.

I apologise for the somewhat erratic sound/volume in this video. I did not record it all in one go, and I have no idea what I'm doing in iMovie. The next one will be better.

To those who were referred to me by DonExodus2, thank you for checking out my videos and I hope you'll like what you see enough to subscribe.
To DonExodus2 himself, thank you very much indeed for your support.

Errata:
1. I apologise, this is just completely wrong. It was thought up until 1965 that Mercury was tidally locked to the Sun, but was proven to have 3:2 spin orbit resonance. That means for every 2 years on Mercury, there are 3 days. One Mercurian year is about 88 Terran days and one Mercurian day about 59 Terran days. I think I was once told that Mercury *was* thought to be tidally locked with the Sun, and confused that to mean it was the current consesus. Again, sorry!

The Earth has at least five moons, actually. ^_^

I pwn you.

Depends on your definition of a moon.

'Ad hominem' is a type of fallacy, referring to when the person making the argument is attacked, rather than on the strength of the argument itself. It has no place in genuine intellectual debate - from either side, though it's still appropriate to highlight dishonesty.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by 'propaganda'. If he intends the video as a serious scientific rebuttal, which it most surely could be, then there is no need to attack the person - the science is good enough on its own.

Calling Venomfangx a "closet drug addict in training" does nothing for our cause of defending astronomy and science. Smash their arguments, don't make up low blow personal insults.

Why not do both?

Because outside of an all likelihood an outright falsehood, it makes our side look weaker. People usually devolve into blatantly throwing personal insults when their arguments do not stand up in the light of honest scrutiny and are basically failures. I know we have the evidence, and that evidence can stand up. We should demolish their arguments and discredit them thoroughly, not act like petty children in an elementary school.

So what, it's funny.

Congrats!!!
Just the intro made this video worthwhile.
Thanks a bunch for posting.

It's nice to see an astrophysicists debunk creationist crap as well as biologists. Nice video!
