Creation Astronomy Propaganda Debunked 01

Back

The pilot episode of 'CrAP Debunked'. If you liked this video, please help to spread it. Various images/videos produced by ESA/NASA/ESO.

Errata:
1. The phrase "Infinite volume hypothesis" is incorrect here. I meant to say either "Infinite density hypothesis" or "Zero volume hypothesis" (each implies the other).
2. Typo. The proton is in fact around one TRILLION times smaller than a full stop, not one billion.
3. Typo. This should of course read "..YouTube account". Thanks to Agnostic1 for making me aware of that!

See your PM for a link to comprehensive research. I look forward to seeing a complete rebuttal.

"Future generations will see stars form."
You got faith there brother !!! If we can't see it now, what makes you think future generations wiill ??? FAITH, pure and simple !

"supported by countless observations" NO actually, No one has ever observed stars being formed. I say it again. They have observed everything EXCEPT star formation.
AndromedasWake (October 8, 2008 at 4:23 am)
That's not correct. Assumptions are the basis of a hypothesis. What scientists have regarding the life cycles of stars is a well founded theory supported by countless observations. Are you seriously suggesting that just because we can't see something, we can't predict it? How about frame dragging; a consequence of general relativity predicted by Einstein. Not visible to us, but detected by more sensitive instruments long after Einstein's death. Future generations will see stars form.
biggbaddjohn (October 8, 2008 at 4:09 am)
bottom line, all you are spouting are assumptions !!! You have no data supporting your claims !!! Regerdless of the time involved, you nor anyone else has ever seen this. Nothing but assumptions , Sir !!!

Hey,

Check the video description (under 'more info').
You will see an errata section referring to the notifications in the video. HTH

Also, know that on average, the star forming rate in the milky way (and similar galaxies) is about one new star per year. Could you spot one new star in the sky per year? Because even massive all sky surveys could not. There are also vast regions of the milky way that we cannot observe. It's not possible see the brightness of a galaxy change by one new star (though we can and have observed supernovae in other galaxies).
AndromedasWake (October 7, 2008 at 11:21 pm)
We have observed stars at every stage of their life cycle, but because the times on which they operate dwarf our lives, we don't see them dynamically. Imagine you only had one day to study the human life cycle. You wouldn't be able to see one be born, but by looking at a large number (as we do stars) you could observe *almost* every stage of human life...

No one has ever seen a mountain form either. This is because they take a very very long time to form. There is no direct observable moment at which a star 'switches on', but rather a steady increase in its mass and temperature until there are sufficient conditions for nuclear reactions to occur within the core. Even then, it takes tens of thousands of years for photons generated in the core to reach the photosphere and subsequently be emitted to us.... (cont.)
