What a beautiful piece of music! Such lush instrumentation! I had never heard this gem before...Thanks Mike! I also love Freda's Bring the Boys Home...I'm surprised that our current anti-war movement has not resurrected this song! Although written for the Vietnam era, its words/sentiments may still hold true today.

You're right, Mike, never gets airplay on oldies stations. Definitely Freda's best!

The overproduction is so messy and undefined. Freda delivers, but just no magic. The entire track seems spliced together. Anyway, gotta love Freda and CKLW.

CKLW Has 50,000 Watts, Too. A Real Blowtorch!

CKLW must have been a powerhouse of a station. Back in the late '60s, I remember tuning into CKLW very late at night....and I live in the Boston area!! What was their wattage? was it as strong as Boston's WBZ's 50,000 watts.

They had 50,000 watts along with an antenna that spanned through the windsor tunnel; combined with being located within the great lakes region provided an explosive signal reaching far beyond most stations of that era. There's a DVD out about the station that tells their story called the rise and fall of the big 8

Great and very seldemly heard song! To me, it sounds like it could have been a Motown song from the late 1960's.
