Heavy Hauler: C-17 Globemaster III
BackFirst listen to SSgt Victoria Staley of the 732nd AS explains the general mission of the C-17 and then watch a demonstration of the short field and slow speed handling of the jet. By the way, check out the crew member taking a picture of the crowd at the 4:00 mark.

STOL works like a champ. You could land this baby on an aircraft carrier. I did 6 months with the C17. I liked it. ;) Great jet.

rutgersfan7,
Do you remember what happened last time a B-52 pilot tried to fly one like the C-17 can fly? (Fairchild AFB 1994)

It is VERY maneuverable! Stick is because it is fly-by-wire, like modern fighter aircraft.

do all fly-by-wire aircraft use stick?

I would assume so. It also has a pressurized (pressurized by its own fluid) hydraulic reservoir, like fighter aircraft. So it can maintain hydraulic fluid to vital components during high "G" maneuvers. The B-52 on the other hand (and on similar big planes) have hydro reservoirs that are pressurized by bleed air off the engines. Not as efficient.

Chief Loadmaster, huh. Which squadron? Are u even a loadmaster? I was just wondering, cuz I do not recall a procedure in our checklist to open the troop doors (not the jump door) to relieve cabin pressure. LOL! Plus airdrops above FL 250 require MAJCOM approval. If you're doing them at FL 350, u must be on a SOLLII aircraft or something. Which in that case, you wouldn't even be posting something like that on here. Personally I think u are an imposter. -Signed- TSgt Strayhorne, 10th Airlift Sq.
