Question from an opera noob - What is a "heavy" role?
PhiliptheFace (October 9, 2008 at 6:30 pm)
There is some really thick German in there and Terfel does a great job with it. I love this song too.

I heard this Fliedermonolog when it was performed about two years ago. Terfel would make an outstanding Sachs.
But if he wants to really get into this and the other Wagner roles he sang(Wotan in particular)who can say?
Anyway one of the greatest Opera singers of his generation.

Can anybody tell me in which act and scene can I find this monologue, and what is its name? I have only watched this opera once, on dvd (I became an opera lover just quite recently).
Thank you very much :)

his vibrato could be a little tighter.

I think sometimes he chews his vowels too.

A great Baritone.

I'm glad he has made a name for himself.

Seine Aussprache ist ungewöhnich gut! Sicherlich besser als die mancher deutscher Muttersprachler! :-)

I love Terfel, and the orchesta is absolutely wonderful, is really a master piece.
