This game really made me dreamy-eyed back then. Such a great soundtrack, wonderful atmosphere.

wow, when i was 13 i played this game for soooooo many hours ^^

mit 13 hab ich das bis zur vergasung gespielt. ich glaub ich habs noch irgendwo rumliegen ;) gleich mal suchen

unfortunately someday i found an easy way to win every game with no problems.. then it was boring

Oh yeah, and even if you put 13 wave scatterers on a ship, if two different species fire on you at once it can get through your shields even though you could sit there all day and take it from one single species even if they have 50 ships, because like chess pieces they only get to move one of their many ships at a time, but with 2 species, because they each get to move once within a single turn, they can hit you harder. You'd need 25 or 26 to protect against that.

Need 13 wave scatterers against the nanomanipulator though, and then of course there's the shield blaster. But the stupid computer would never think of using that. And nothing's indestructible, a ship protected by the invulnerablizer will be destroyed by the disintegrator. Compy wouldn't use that either though. It should have been a 2-player game... though then you'd have to sit there and wait while the other guy finishes doing whatever he does for the day and that could be boring.

But you have to get really really stoned to play Ascendancy and deliberately build everything on the wrong color squares or else it'll be too easy to win.
