guys, do you think the dsl 50 sounds ´metal´ enough without tuning into drop-a or so (actually i m tuning between drop-d and drop-c), and even without using active pickups? Yes, i´d agree to use a pedal to boost the gain. I have the oppurtunity to buy a used one for nearly 50 percent of the current price. I play mainly rock and metal. Would you recommend it?

It sounded to me that the ultra-gain channel has a lot of Orange-like sound to it. I guess that is natural though, considering they are both very British amps. Is this just me?

valve and tube is the same thing
guitarsk8er239 (September 16, 2008 at 1:47 am)
tube and valve ARE the same thing but valvestate means solidstate
Sozos9038 (September 25, 2008 at 3:33 am)
actually valvestate is a series of amps who have tube preamp section and solid state poweramp section
randyrhoadstheking (October 14, 2008 at 2:08 am)
accually they have a solid state pre-amp with a single 12ax7 in there to try to shape and color the tone to sound "tube" and i think they do a pretty good job of it. but if you use the effects loop it loses any tube characteristics it had. still cool amps though.
