When i went to Carowinds this ride was closed so i did not get to ride it

ram360goat: It wasn't "some dude" that bought the park, it was a corperation called Cedar Fair (they own the world renowned Cedar Point, and several other amusement parks like Worlds of Fun and Dorney Park). Also, they didn't make the choice to change the names of some of the rides, it was required by law because the name Top Gun was copyrighted by Paramount (the previous owner of Carowinds and other Paramount parks), so they had to change the names. Afterburn sounds cooler too.
